Representation of Police Officers, Paramedics, Firefighters
Our office defends police officers, paramedics, and firefighters facing criminal charges. We have defended police officers, paramedics, and firefighters in drug possession matters, DUI cases, domestic violence cases, and computer crime cases. Often public safety employees will be simultaneously investigated by their own agency or department and a licensing board. We can assist public safety employees with navigating their internal department investigation and can either assist with licensing issues or make the appropriate referrals to licensing attorneys.
Our office has also defended clients before local commissions or entities that have some regulatory authority over the public safety employee. If our office does not handle a particular administrative issue, we can seek to make the appropriate referral for you to other attorneys who do handle these types of administrative issues. Some public safety unions will provide union contracted attorneys to assist with various facets of legal representation. Our office primarily focuses on defending the criminal defense matters for our clients. If you are facing state EMSA actions against your license, we can discuss this with you and help you determine if you are entitled to union contracted legal representation through your Department. We have assisted clients with local EMS/EMT agency investigation matters.
If your case is one that involves substance abuse issues we can help you get into the appropriate treatment. We have experience assisting law enforcement officers and public safety employees with finding the appropriate inpatient or outpatient treatment programs. We can recommend forensic psychologists as well to conduct an assessment of any issues you may face. Many first responders or public safety employees have been exposed to trauma on the job and may need additional counseling. We have also defended clients facing felony domestic violence charges, which can involve custody disputes. If your matter requires the assistance of a family law attorney, we can seek to provide a qualified attorney referral in that area as well.
If you are a military veteran, it may be in your interest to seek transfer of your case to Veteran's Court. This will depend on the specifics of your legal matter. We have handled numerous cases for persons seeking transfer to Veteran's Court.
